Consent to record
Cue never captures audio silently — and getting everyone's consent is on you.

This is draft policy language for Cue, shared for transparency while the product is in early access. It has not yet been reviewed by legal counsel, and it may change before general availability.
Capture is always consented
Cue will not start listening on its own. Before any session, you confirm exactly what will be captured — your voice and the shared audio of the meeting. Only after you confirm does capture begin. If you don't consent, the session doesn't record.
The live indicator
Whenever Cue is processing audio, a persistent Live indicator stays visible in the room. It is there the entire time and disappears the moment capture stops, so it is always clear when the meeting is being listened to. The indicator is never hidden while a session is live.
All-party consent is your responsibility
Recording or processing a conversation is governed by wiretap and consent laws that vary by place. Some jurisdictions require the consent of every person on the call — all-party consent. Cue gives you the tools to be transparent, but it is your responsibility to obtain the consent your jurisdiction requires from everyone in the meeting before you capture it.
A simple practice: tell everyone at the start that Cue is running, point to the Live indicator, and continue only once everyone agrees. If you're unsure what your jurisdiction requires, seek your own legal advice — this notice is information, not legal advice.
Process-and-discard by default
Unless a room explicitly opts in to retention, Cue transcribes audio in flight and discards it — no raw audio is stored. When retention is on, it runs for a short, configurable window, and you can delete a session's data in one click.
